Did your first place look like this?

This is the first pad of Brooklyn Heights resident Lauren McGrath as featured in the March issue of Traditional Home.
My first place was a basement apartment lightly infused with sewer gas and home to waterbugs the size of mammals. I guess fashion writing in NYC pays better than cops reporting in Virginia. Doesn't hurt that mummy is an interior designer.

Cool thing with the twig mirror, no? I'm guessing wall decals. I also like that almost everything in her place is second hand.

Here's their blog.

Could you blog with your mom?

  1. If only! My first place looked like no one lived there. I couldn't afford a thing. This place is gorgeous. Great pics.

  6. Oh, I saw this article too! I remember thinking they had spent quite a bit of money, even though the square footage was small. Also, she was very lucky to see eye-to-eye with her Mom on design :)

  8. My mom actually has a blog, though it has nothing to do with design or style. I love my mom and we get along well, but I don't think blogging is an endeavor I want to share with her -- at least, I don't want to share a single blog with her. I like that she blogs so she "gets" what I spend so much time doing, and she's really supportive...but I can't imagine sharing control over my blog with anyone (I'm not ego maniacal, it's just the one thing that's all mom), Mom or otherwise.

  9. I wish it did. I love everything in her house, especially that dresser by the bed.

  10. You all crack me up.

I could probably blog with my mom, except that she sometimes calls it a "bog" instead of a blog. (Sometimes my mom's malapropisms are right on.)
