Weathered leather chairs

Davie Coote

Wouldn't you like to curl up in one of these on a cool fall evening? I hope I age like a leather chair - the rattier, poochier and more beat up they get, the better they look.

  1. You're spot on, they do get more comfortable with age. I bought one recently and it's just too new!
I love that second picture, with all the colors in the bookcase.

  2. This is excellent. The next time my boyfriend complains about the damage my gato has done to his leather furniture, I will refer him to this post.

  3. That's right. It's not a pesty cat - it's a natural patina-izer.

  4. They had a big battered low leather arm chair in London's new Anthropologie. I have a big leather brown handbag I bought last year and is ageing (even in a year) just delightfully - I love how comfy it looks. Definitely worth the price tag considering I use it every single day.

By the way, I was underwhelmed by Anthro after all.

Here's what I had to say. If I sound unnecessarily mean, I don't really mean to:

  6. I agree! The great thing about leather is that it only gets softer and more beautiful with age.

  7. I've also discovered that leather is kid-proof! Scratches just meld in, stains go away and scuffs simply make it look better. We have beautiful leather dining chairs and they've been covered in soup and yoghurt more times than you can imagine but I still love them.
