Rearranging rooms

Do you do this - come into a perfectly nice room and start moving furniture in your mind?

So, here's the deal - lovely view off to the right, narrow TV cabinet off to the left . . .

What would you do in this room? Or am I just way off for not liking it as is?

  1. I think I would maybe shift that dark leather chair so that it faces inwards towards the couch like the other chair so that the tv isn't the main focus. I guess if this is a tv room, you wouldn't want to do that though. Really, it's a beautiful space!

  2. It is awesome. It just hit me as weird that the sitting on the sofa means you can't see the view. And the person in the green chair can see the view but not the TV. I should do a layout. But isn't that weird - why sketch out a room makeover for a place I don't even live in?

  3. I can't stand sofas in front of the window. It's one of my pet peeves. It makes it hard to open the window, you get glare on the TV screen, plus you're staring at the wall! I'd take the TV out of the armoire, put it on a lower TV stand in front of the windows and put the sofa with it's back to the wall. That way if the TV isn't on you can look at the view and if it is on, and you get bored with what you're watching, you can always look outside!

  4. I don't think it's weird, I have a habit of redesigning any living space I encounter. Perhaps it's overanalyzing, or too much HGTV/TLC...

  5. I agree with you. It's a lovely space but right now it just makes me feel uncomfortable. Kasey is probably right, or the sofa and black chair could swap places to even things up a little that way.

  6. I do this ALL THE TIME. I don't know what's across from the fireplace but I would put the couch in front of it, the coffee table in front of that then the two chairs facing the couch. Whose house is this?

  7. It's a friend's guest house. Right now there's nothing across from the fireplace, so that is where I was thinking the couch would make sense also. That way you can see the fireplace or the view or the TV.
