I love that concept with framing minerals. My parents did it as a DIY project in their home quite a number a years ago and it's all stayed in tack. I still love it after all of these years.
Here's an idea. Try free-scores.com. It has PDFs of sheet music. You could get a page printed large format relatively inexpensively since it's black and white. Search classical piano for stuff with lots of notes - Grieg for example. (http://www.free-scores.com/download-sheet-music.php?pdf=42720)
I would do mineral soap since it's cheaper than a real mineral. ($12)(http://www.shopfurbish.com/servlet/the-559/Aquamarine-Soap-Rock/Detail?category=)
Glue it to a mat in a shadowbox. IKEA has inexpensive ones.
I love the sheet music idea. Can you give me advice on how I can go about doing this with my favorite song? Who will print this and where can I find sheet music?
Try free-scores.com. It has PDFs of sheet music. Most places that print photos will also print large size files. UPrint for example does poster size prints.
