New York, where the streets are paved with dirty snow, experienced a brief thaw with temps in the 50s yesterday, welcome news to everybody but Mr. Bromeliad, who had just finished a new ice sculpture.
We took bets on which side would collapse first. But we were both away from home when it finally toppled. It will take a forensics expert to sort it out.
How's the weather where you are?
I am ready for it to thaw straight into spring! Hope you enjoyed the brief warmth!
ReplyDeleteThat was a lovely sculpture (while it lasted). It's about that warm here (Washington state), too.
ReplyDeleteOh no! That was so cool! Although I feel bad for him, I do admit I enjoyed the warmth. Can't wait until Friday when its suppose be high 50's here in Boston. I'm originally from NY, and my folks said you guys might hit 70! Lucky. Not so for Mr. B's ice.
ReplyDeletehow cool the Mr. sculpted that! The weather is lovely. Mid 60's yesterday and 70's this weekend..what?!?! Can't wait!
ReplyDeletep.s. Been meaning to tell you...how neat that we used to do the same run from opposite ends. I wonder if we ever crossed paths? ;) Do you still run it? I sure do miss that bridge!
ReplyDeleteMr Bromeliad is a hero of mine - such effort and imagination for the sake of a fleeting installation is bound to endear him to me, who once travelled 40 miles by unreliable train out of London to view the world's largest ice-cube on a cold day.
ReplyDeleteThe weather here is warm - Desert Southwest...but more importantly, because I hardly ever notice the weather, I wanted to tell you that I love your blog. The photo of the thaw is wonderful as are many things - and you are so lucky that Mr. Bromeliad is creative too.
ReplyDeleteAwesome sculpture! It looked like a lucite side table for a while there - very cool.
ReplyDeleteYes, it's a very warm week here also - in the 70s. In february? Wow - not complaining, though. Is the worst of winter already over?
That is the coolest thing. Delicate, fragile, and temporary.
ReplyDeleteWow that was amazing!!! There was so much melt yesterday but it's back to freezing again today.
