This makeover was free because it involved only the dragging of furniture from one wall to another.
Our bed has now been on every wall except in front of the closet doors. Its current location was inspired by bloggie friend Nick Olsen, whose tiny apartment makover was featured in House Beautiful.
As you may recall, Nick placed the bed smack dab under the window.
The other influential man in my life, Mr. Bromeliad, has been persuading me to try the same thing. And it worked.
Here is my new Z Gallerie Tunis Lantern. I have a battery operated candle that lights it up at night on a timer. These modern things dazzle me.
The room feels bigger and brighter.
The only thing I'm not wild about is this wall. I like the screen but the ottoman doesn't seem to have enough heft. What do I need here? A big plant? Chair? Dresser? Something else I don't currently own and probably will never buy?
Bed in front of window = Great idea. How do you manage about the curtains - you need a gap so that they drape? The ottoman looks well, but how about a lovely heap of colourful cushions on top of it?

ReplyDeleteI like this set up better. The screen looks good on that wall but i also agree the ottoman is not working. Think its a bit heavy for the space. Chair maybe......

ReplyDeleteEmily, the "candle" was a gift. It came in a set of four, most likely from Target or Wal-Mart.
I really like the old switch-a-roo. Looks great. Wherever did you find your Moroccan screen, though?
ReplyDeleteWould the ottoman fit at the foot of the bed and a chair/side table by the screen? Maybe with a low kilim-covered footstool for a cozy global reading nook?
ReplyDeleteMr.Bromeliad found it on the street about 10 years ago. One of the top panels was missing, so we just removed the other three.

ReplyDeleteLovely. You know what I'd put in front of the screen? A Lucite console. Would complement all the glass and silver on the other side of the bed and you'd see that gorgeous screen through it so it wouldn't feel cluttered. If you picked one with a Louis feel to it, it would work beautifully with the silver table.

ReplyDeleteI love the bed here. I may have missed a couple of iterations of your bedroom set up along the way, but I do believe the screen was once a headboard? I prefer being able to see the entirety of the screen.
